Decorated Scolloped Edge Box

I had so much fun decorating this box.
Some of my favorite things are on it~
birds, flowers, music, sweet locket
along with the word Princess.

Oh and by the way, the little locket actually opens!

The box is 6" x 6" x 2" and made of light brown cardboard.
I think the scolloped edges are perfect.
I added pink velvet ribbon along
the edge for added detail.

HAPPY CRAFTING!

Halloween~Witching Hour...Boo!

Boo!
Did I scare you?
Miss Witchey Cat.
Such a sweet face!

Cute faces on that darling black cat
and young girl. I love her hat!

Up, up and away to greet
the ghost of Halloween.

Spiders are so scary and spooky!

This one is darling.
Have you ever grown your own pumpkins?

This witch is so styling!

That pumpkin moon is great.
Such a sweet little witch girl!
Love her white dress.

ROCKY WANTED TO BE A PART OF THIS BLOG.
First ROCKY wanted to be a pirate.

And, then THE ROCKSTAR decided to be

Some of My Favorite Things

I inherited this lovely old pine chest of drawers with matching mirror
from my grandmother.
When I received it, it had at least ten coats of paint.
Since then, I have had it refinished.
I adore the detail.

And, more detail of the side panels.

Hey...how about those "Dove Tail Joints."

This is a Japanese Wooden Calligraphy Chest.
It was used for holding brushes, ink and paper.
My mom gave it to me
when I graduated from high school.

The hand-forged hardware so beautiful.

I love the two little drawers.
And, how about those wooded square nails!
This box has been a treasure of mine for over fifty years!
If you are wondering why I did this post, you will know when

It's All About Me

"It's All About Me" and Natasha Burns REALLY challenged me!
After reading all her questions, I realized this party was definitely for me.
One of her questions really hit home for me~
"Are you happy to bend over backwards to spoil someone else,
but don't spoil yorself?"
I immediately knew what I wanted to make for myself.
For a while now, I have wanted
a fancy~elegant~showy~fun purse and scarf
to wear to the San Francisco Symphony and Opera.
So~now I have them! Yipee for me!
The outside fabric is embroidery chiffon,
and the lining and shoulder strap are silk.
The embossed button was a great find at a craft shop.
No pattern used~all from my little old brain and
creative thoughts.
I like the way the matching scarf turned out.
I know I will feel "very over the top" wearing my
new purse and scarf.
Thanks to Natasha.
I love your new painting over your fireplace!
Very lovely design and colors.

Halloween~Witching Hour ATC

I had so much fun making these ATC swap cards for my group!
I was not sure how the sewing machine would work on paper
but it worked just fine for making a little pocket for the insert tag.
Isn't the sweet witch stamp a fun one.

Halloween is just around the corner.
And, the Witching Hour is near.

UCSF~Cancer Center~Peace Quilt

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month,
I took some of my hand-knit scarves
with colorful sox tied together
with a matching ribbon to
UCSF-Cancer Center for donation.
The sox and scarves keep the patients warm and cozy
during and after their therapy.
I hope my hand-made gifts also warm their hearts.

This lovely hand-made quilt hangs in the lobby of the UCSF-Cancer Center.

A sign next to the quilt explains how the quilt came to be made.

The above and following pictures show some of
the sweet squares that make up the quilt.

No more words needed~enjoy.

I knew you would enjoy this special
quilt made by special people.
While I was taking these photos,
a very nice gentleman was playing
the piano which he does each week as a volunteer.
Sweet and loving thought to all.

Rocky Thinks He Is Going To Hawaii

I had to do one more post before leaving tomorrow morning
for Hawaii to visit my son and his sweet family.
Rocky decided to take a nap in my travel bag.
I think he thinks that I can't see him!

Where am I going to put my clothes?

Isn't he just the cutest!

Slough Safari

How about this pantoon boat. Looks like fun? YES!
It is the boat used for a a great Safari tour of
the slough in Moss Landing California.
We were offered a close-up look at birds and marine mammals
that live in the slough.
Isn't this the cutest sign with the little boat floating on top.
There are lots of wonderful old boats
hanging around in Moss Landing.

Oh, who is that?
I fell in love with the "life vest"
and felt so very stylish wearing it.
Wow, I sure did catch that bird in flight.

Love the old weathered wood posts in the water.

Old guys hanging out together.
They are so sweet...really!

Sea Otter just hanging out and eating.

Birds, birds and more birds.

Fun picture!

So peaceful. Love that smooth, peaceful, calm water

These sea lions brought tears to my eyes.
I wanted to hold the babies!

My dear friend Stacy from Golden Bird Knits invited me on this adventure.
I have had the pleasure of knowing her for more than seventeen years.
I rate both the Safari and Stacy with five stars!

The naturalist on the Safari was informative and interesting.
She gave us just enough information without being overwhelmed.

Heave-Ho and happy sailing to you.
Hugs, Cory
