Outside the Kitchen Window

I love watching the sweet little birds
in our Grass Valley backyard.
These two photos were taken
looking out our kitchen window.
The little finches are my favorites!
I am amazed at how much suet the birds
are eating this time of year.
I have also put some wool in the suet basket.

I think this is a Woodpecker.
Can you see the birdhouse in the background?

The birds have been enjoying this new type of cylinder bird feeder. I have this one hanging in the front yard so we can see it from the living room. So much fun!

The sun is out. The sky is blue
What a lovely day.

Goldfinches are little bird angels...love their song
I think that is a woodpecker....
wool in the feeder? In spring I leave stuff from my dryer and the cat brush out for the birds...but now?
I wish we could have escaped to our weekend home in Galena. But baby is due soon and we want to be close by
But oh my heart aches to see it
I'm sure you feel the same way about your country home
We bought our home because of all the birds!! Truly a delight to watch
Pour me another cup tea please...
my mouth is getting dry from all the talking!

Oh how sweet those little birds are. Great that you can see them front yard and back:) My Sister loves birds and watches them all the time. My Brother has a humingbird feeder right outside his window and they entertain him and me too when I visit! Have a blessed day dear friend!

Suz~I will get a cup of tea for you. I love all your talking. Don't the birds need to keep warm during the winter??? Maybe you can get to Galena after sweet baby is born. Hugs, Cory

You're so fortunate to be able to hang bird feeders outside your windows. I wish I could do that, but it's not allowed, plus we have so many stray cats I'm concerned they would hang out at the feeders and harm the birds. I think that bird in the picture is a woodpecker too, but I can't tell what kind it is. Maybe a Nutall's or a Downey. I like they yellow finches, too. How sweet of you to put wool out there for them.

It's so nice of you to feed the birds. We have had mild weather up until today. It has been cold, windy and rainy all day:( Thank you so much for your comment on our blog. I appreciated that you said my blanket stitch was so even:) Have a great week! Twyla

Feeding the birds is such a wonderful part of winter. Do you ever get snow where you are at Dogwood? I love to see the cardinals in the snowy branches. Makes me want to fire up the oven and knit a spell.

I love watching the birds in our yard, too. We have a pair of Cardinals who are so beautiful and the other day I spied a gorgeous woodpecker up on our Maple tree!

I think that bird at your feeder might be a Flicker. They don't usually go to feeders, but it sure looks like one. Here is a link if you want to check it out:

Ummm...Stacy, you have me thinking maybe the bird at the feeder is a flicker. Hard to tell. But, I do know you know more about birds than I do. Thanks for the info...
